Nebraskan Allen J. Beermann has long held that success in life doesn’t just happen; it is caused. From humble beginnings as the son of German immigrant farmers in Dakota County, Nebraska, he learned to understand the value of “service above self.”  Serving 24 years as Nebraska Secretary of State and then 25 years as Executive Director of the Nebraska Press Association, Allen set the bar for civility, honor, loyalty and propriety.
